What is a Pronoun?

Pronouns are the shortcuts of language! Without them, speaking would be very repetitive.

"Tom lost Tom's bag. When Tom found Tom's bag, Tom was happy."

โœจ With pronouns:

"Tom lost his bag. When he found it, he was happy."

The word that a pronoun replaces is called its antecedent (the noun it stands for).

๐ŸŒŸ Cool Pronoun Facts!

๐Ÿ“œ

"They" as Singular!

"They" can refer to one person when their gender is unknown or not specified. "Someone left their umbrella โ€” they might need it!"

๐Ÿ‘‘

The Royal "We"!

Kings and queens used to say "we" instead of "I" when speaking officially. This is called the "royal we"!

๐Ÿค”

"I" vs "Me"!

Use "I" as a subject and "me" as an object. "She and I went" is correct. "She gave me a gift" is correct!
