A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. Almost everything around you has a noun name!
Imagine you're in a room. Look around β the chair, the table, your friend, the school outside, and even your feeling of excitement. These are ALL nouns!
A noun answers the question: "What is it?" or "Who is it?" If you can put "the" in front of it and it makes sense, it's probably a noun.

Nouns come in many flavours! Learn each type with examples you'll recognise. π
General names for people, places, or things. They are not capitalised (unless starting a sentence).
Examples:

Names of specific people, places, or things. They always start with a Capital Letter!
Examples:
Emma Β· London Β· Monday Β· Amazon Β· France
Things you can feel or think about but can't touch or see. Ideas and emotions!
Examples:
love Β· freedom Β· happiness Β· courage Β· fear Β· justice
Things you can see, touch, hear, smell, or taste. Physical things that exist in the real world!
Examples:
apple Β· rock Β· music Β· perfume Β· rain Β· cat
A single word for a group of people, animals, or things! Each group has a special name.
Examples:
a flock of birds Β· a team of players Β· a pack of wolves Β· a bunch of grapes
Things you can count with numbers (1 apple, 2 apples). They have singular and plural forms!
Examples:
1 book β 3 books Β· 1 cat β 5 cats Β· 1 star β 100 stars
Things you cannot count individually. You can't say "two waters" or "three airs" β they don't have a plural form!
Examples:
