The emotion words! ๐ฒ
An interjection is a word or phrase that expresses a sudden emotion or feeling. They often stand alone and are followed by an exclamation mark (!) or a comma.
๐ ๐ฒ Wow! ยท ๐ Yay! ยท ๐ฃ Ouch! ยท ๐ค Hmm! โ all INTERJECTIONS!
Interjections are the most expressive part of speech! They burst out of you when something happens โ like when you stub your toe ๐ฃ or win a game ๐.
Unlike other parts of speech, interjections have no grammatical connection to the rest of the sentence. They just express feeling!
๐ก Two Ways to Use Interjections:
๐ด Strong feeling โ Use an exclamation mark (!)
"Wow! That is amazing!"
๐ก Mild feeling โ Use a comma (,)
"Well, I suppose you're right."
Every emotion has its own interjection! Here's a guide to the most common ones.
Express sudden, intense feelings. Always use an exclamation mark (!) and start a new sentence after them.
Express softer feelings or hesitation. Use a comma after them and continue the sentence.
